Things were not looking good for Ryan and Josh as they were both drawn in the same group, but luckily the pool was split giving both boys a chance to get the same award. After a group huddle and a motivational team talk from top coach Dave Tooby, the team looked ready and up for the challenge ahead

DVD Intro

Ciara Simmons was on the mat next to the boys and started off in true Simmons style, by finding the biggest opponent and taking the victory reminding us why she is nicknamed Quick Kill. Ciara was in rampant form and powered her way through a tough group to take yet another Gold.

Ryan was first to be called up on the next mat. His opponent was a good fighter and had The Whirlwind in a bit of a tussle, but with the crowd cheering him on Ryan managed to counter his opponents ground hold and take the victory himself. From then on The Whirlwind out classed the rest of his opponents to take another Gold.

Josh Leonard was also going well in the dojo, spurred on by The Whirlwind, The Joker was making short work of his opponents, despite his lack of words, The Joker's talking was done on the mat with three quick Ippons enabling him to take another Gold giving the travelling Samurai fans plenty to cheer about.

Finally it was the turn of The Ice Man Connor Leonard. His group would only give him two opponents but one would be Dominic Keirns, Southfields very own Bulldog. Both boys always end up fighting at big competitions and after the BJC National Squad Training, both have become good friends. Today Dominic had the edge and despite a few tough battles Dominc melted The Iceman to take the Ippon. Both boys defeated the other opponent quickly but today the Iceman had to settle for Silver.

All four members represented the club with pride and you all deserve praise for having the guts to go out there and give it shot. However its a testiment to the club and the level of coaching our kids recieve that they are becoming a formidable force in competitions. Awesome.
