BJA KENT INTERNATIONAL 2010

On Saturday 26th June Southampton Samurai Judo Club took part in the incredibly tough BJA Kent International. Sensei Dave Tooby was mat side to coach our two entrants, Connor Leonard & Chloe Tooby.

This DVD can be viewed online, check the side menu, online dvd footage.

The groups were hard and the weight categories had a minium age of 8yrs to maximum of 15yrs. Connor who was quite nervous, made a fine start and despite only being 9yrs old managed to get a good first victory. A defeat in the later stages ended his medal winning chances but was able to walk of the mat with his head held high after finishing 5th.

Chloe Tooby was up next and in a group which hosted many well known names on the BJA Circuit. After an explosive start Chloe secured a sweet victory which gave her a well earned shot at a trophy. As the competition went on the contests got harder but Chloe was able to hang in there and secure a well earned Bronze, a superb achievement.

Despite both Judo Stars doing well, each declined an interview with SSJC TV however Sensei Dave Tooby spoke on their behalf.

"Both Chloe and Connor done extremely well and can both be proud of what they achieved today"

Dave was also quick to spot Team GBR Legend Winston Gordon who was happy to have his picture taken with Team Samurai.

He also signed both Connor and Chloe's participation certificate, as seen below.

Well done to Team Samurai, it was a tough competition and very hot and humid in the dojo.

Both Connor and Chloe had to wear this patch on the back of their Gi.
