Sensei means teacher in Japanese.
The Sensei of the Southampton Samurai Judo Club is Dave Dyer.
Dave has studied Judo for 34 years and has acquired a 4th DAN Black Belt. His commitment and dedication to Judo has made him a respected member of the BJC.
Dave is a qualified International Referee and a registered British Judo Council Coach.
He has obtained FBJ2 (Fundamentals Principles of Judo 2) coaching award Shodoshudai Ni.
Dave is fully insured as an instructor and also a First Aider.
Dave Tooby is a 1st DAN Belt and an Assistant Instructor at the club. He has been studying Judo with the club for 13 years. Dave is a National Referee and also has a club coach award, First Aid, FPJ2 (Fundamentals Principles of Judo 2) and also holds a Child Protection Awareness Certificate.
Dave also runs the Ippon Mat session for the contest players on Monday evenings.
Jo joined Samurai in 1991, she is 3rd Dan, FPJ1 & 2. Club Coach and Shodoshi Dia Itchi, also a Tournament Administrator, holds a Child Protection Awareness Certificate, and is fully insured and a First Aider.
